Seeed
Beautiful Days Festival
Live Review
August 2014
It’s like a West End show- a dubbed out, dance till you drop West End Show- sort of a Jesus Christ Superstar in dub or something, as what seems like 30 sharply dressed musicians take the stage and deliver a spectacular performance that is dedicated to pure entertainment.
Seeed are huge in their home country of Germany, where they formed in 1998 – regular festival headliners with number one albums and this is their UK debut. They have taken their reggae and infused it with all manners of dance music into a slick almost theatrical show of unashamedly audience shaking proportions that they are like a 25 piece dance machine.
On their UK debut they waste little time in calling for the crowd to dance and are the ultimate good time festival band. Dressed in sharp suits they are like an endless parade of good time boppers- this is a big band boogie in dub and an orchestra of dance with a commitment to entertain with their machine like groove and their honing down of all the constituents that are needed to turn a sceptical audience into a frenzied dance pit.
If anything their whole thing is a tad too slick- like a musical in a field but it is perfectly thought out like a computer print out of how to make people dance. Perhaps, like national German football they are the perfect team players with the commitment to teamwork and winning- that rather loveable German penchant for perfection. Seeed are here for only one thing and that is to make people dance. They came, they saw and they conquered. They made everyone dance and then they left.
They well be back next year for headline UK tour and will be the ultimate party band for the season.
