The Clash are to release 2 new compilations at the tail end of the summer.
Sound System is a box set, containing the first five Clash albums remastered, with a load of rarities and new photos. The Clash Hits Back is a two-CD best-of, sequenced to copy the setlist from a show at the Brixton Fair Deal – now the Academy – in July 1982. Interesting concepts and another great excuse to wallow in some truly great music.
Meanwhile Paul Simonon has teamed up with Sailor Jerry to produce a handful of limited edition garments inspired by the legendary tattoo flash of Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins.
‘The Flash Collection by Paul Simonon’ will include three pieces – a leather jacket, a T-shirt and a neckerchief.
“I’ve always admired Norman Collins’s art. He was a real original and his designs were the template for many other tattooists,” said Simonon.
“It’s the first time I’ve done a collaboration and combining art and clothes design is right up my street.”
The collectible items will go on sale worldwide in a handful of selected stores and on sailorjerryclothing.com in September 2013.
