Louder Than War presents IRO IRO vol.18
Crawfish, Akasaka, Tokyo
9 March 2013

LTW IRO 18 3

When you think about the volume of stuff a night of live music has to compete with to get people out of their homes, away from their TVs, computers and other distractions – it is not without some nerves that we embarked on that very venture.

With an impending yellow-hued dust storm hanging over Tokyo it was with relief that at 7pm sharp the door let forth real people ready to enjoy some of the very best live music the metropolis has to offer as well as enjoy and be part of what was an exciting, entertaining and exuberant night out.

The venue, Crawfish, was bursting with an animated audience as our first band took to the stage. U.K’s Andrew Tyrone Rodgers with his very international band The Avoided (The U.S.A, Japan and France represented within the trio) served up an intriguing set of colour filled upbeat pop rock, migrating smoothly around themes of introspective reflection.

Picking from a wealth of impressive material, we got nothing less than the expected from Maikotobranco‘s dynamic and skilfully executed rock. Edging into and out of punk rock territory the absorbing set was all over too soon.

Providing an enriching sound that enveloped the venue, with lyrics full of depth and warmth, HoneyProof won over the audience instantly. Their melody based guitar rock is steeped in luxuriant layers of shoe gaze reverb, sultry blues vocals with flashes of neo-psychedelia vibes – a heady and utterly gratifying mix.

Molice had the audience on their feet from the start, their compellingly diverse blend of new wave, punk rock and fresh indie guitars are impossible to resist.

Why not take a few minutes to see for yourself just how Molice got our night jumping, and the outstanding performances of all the acts at Louder Than War’s first live house night in Tokyo. Take a look at our evenings highlight’s video.

Will you be doing this again so many people asked? Yes we are, our resounding reply.

Louder Than War present IRO IRO vol.19 on Saturday 25 May 2013 at the Crawfish, Akasaka Tokyo. Four more talented bands will take to the stage, again entrance will be FREE.

Please keep an eye out on Louder Than War for an event preview and join the IRO IRO Facebook page for regular updates and announcements.
